I’m happy to be posting again so soon, considering last time it took me over 2 months to post again. I’m pretty excited for this post because it’s all the stuff I ordered from Sephora a few weeks ago. When I first arrived in the Netherlands a few months back, I remember that Sephora didn’t ship to the Netherlands. However, now they do! So, of course, I had to check it out. After all, before this, I had never actually shopped at Sephora (scandalous, I know).
That being said, the brands Sephora carries are the ones I’m most familiar with. Growing up, I — like most other girls procrastinating instead of actually doing their homework — watched a lot of YouTube makeup tutorials and hauls and all that other lovely crap. A good 90% — that percentage is totally backed by scientific research, trust me — of the products used in those videos were products bought at Sephora.
Basically, brands that weren’t/ aren’t readily available here — at least to my (somewhat limited) knowledge. However now that I can just get them shipped here from Sephora, I can finally try out these products I’ve been coveting since my preteen years.
Brand: The Original Beautyblender
Price: 20.05 euros
Okay, yes, it took me forever to actually buy a beautyblender. Sue me. At least I finally got one. What I honestly didn’t know was how small it looks before you soak it. I have never seen it pre-soak up until then, so part of me was genuinely worried that they sent me a small one instead of a normal-sized one. So you can imagine my bewilderment when it expanded in size.
Brand: Kat Von D
Price: 20.05 euros
I. Fucking. Love. This.
I have always had a problem with eyeliner, which was due to the shape of my eyes. I have a bit of skin that drapes over my eyelid, so whenever I used eyeliner in the past, it would wind up smudging and transferring to this bit of skin — regardless of how long I let it dry before fully opening my eyes.
Kat Von D‘s ‘Tattoo Liner’ is honestly a game-changer for me. After the product dries, it doesn’t smudge or transfer. This is a product I seriously recommend, especially if you have that problem that I have with eyeliners in general.
‘Better Than Sex’ mascara
Brand: Too Faced
Price: 23.05 euros
This is by far the best mascara I’ve ever used…for my upper lashes. It doesn’t clump and it keeps my eyelashes well spread — instead of giving me spider lashes — and it gives my lashes more length than your average mascara. However, it has one glaring problem to me, and it’s an issue I can’t really look past.
When I apply it to my lower lashes, by the end of the day, I look like a fucking raccoon. I’m not someone who usually has dark circles, or at least not a bad case of dark circles. But after a day of wearing this mascara on my lower lashes, it looks like I haven’t slept for 3 days. The fallout is intense. Which really sucks considering the price tag of this product. I don’t know about you, but I’m not into spending over 20 bucks on mascara only to have to buy another one for my lower lashes. That being said, this is my personal experience. Maybe it’ll work better for someone else. 🙂
‘Melted’ Liquid Lipstick in “Cool Girl”
Brand: Too Faced
Price: 21.05 euros
Another new-found love. I love the formula of this. It’s easy to apply, it dries quickly without leaving my lips feeling like the Sahara desert, and it doesn’t completely smudge off of my lips as soon as I take a sip of something (it does transfer a bit, though).
I really like this specific color, it’s very matte, neutral, and every-day-color for me. However, considering how much I like this product, I’m definitely planning on investing in some more colors.
Samples: ‘Lock-it’ The Ultimate Primer + Foundation Sample Pack & ‘Glitter Glue’ Glitter Shadow Primer
Brand: Kat Von D & Too Faced, respectively
I’ve yet to try either of these products. I don’t wear either foundation or eyeshadow on a daily basis, so I haven’t had the opportunity to try them out. I received the foundation in the shade ‘Medium (54)’, and I hope that the Sephora gods didn’t send me a shade that’s too dark for me. I think I’m more excited for the foundation + primer duo than the glitter shadow primer. Mostly because I don’t really own a lot of “glittery” eyeshadows. But hey, we’ll see.
So that concludes this super tiny haul. This first order was partly to see how ordering from Sephora directly would go and considering that it went without a hitch, I’m definitely gonna be ordering again. And probably a lot more stuff next time.
